Downtown Philadelphia is always in motion.

People walk fast and blur their reflections on the windows of the skyscrapers that line the streets. The Reading Market Terminal blends the smells and flavors of the city into one melting pot. Crowds of journalists slip in and out of the Marriott Hotel and add to the electric energy of the city.

Here are the scenes of those journalists on the other side of the Marriott door, attending the 24th Online News Association Conference.

George Spelman, from Philadelphia, reads The Phildelphia Inquirer outside of the Marriott Hotel. He was not aware that the 2023 Online News Association Conference was happening just feet away inside of the hotel, where thousands of journalists representing more than 30 countries and news organizations across the globe came together. Spelman is a retired SEPTA worker and spends his days enjoying his time in the city. One critique he has for the news industry – “Make more investigative journalism”. (Photo/Elizabeth Rymarev)
